Errol Brown

Errol Brown (1943-2019) was a Jamaican-British singer-songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the band Hot Chocolate. His genre primarily encompassed pop, rock, and soul, with an infusion of reggae influences. Brown formed Hot Chocolate in 1969, and the band achieved significant success throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Notable works include hits like "You Sexy Thing," "Every 1's a Winner," and "So You Win Again." "You Sexy Thing" became a classic, especially after its inclusion in the film "The Full Monty," which revived interest in their music. Hot Chocolate was also the first band to have a hit in every year of the 1970s in the UK charts. Brown's distinctive voice and charismatic stage presence contributed significantly to the band's appeal and success. He was celebrated for his ability to blend catchy melodies with thoughtful lyrics. In 2003, Brown was awarded an MBE for his services to music, reflecting his impact on the industry.
